Yes, you have to have the expansions.
Yes, you need the expansions. That’s how Blizzard gets you to buy expansion packs: add a new class.
No, you cannot. Because when you create a Death Knight, you start out in areas only available with the WoTLK expansion. Also, in order to get WoTLK installed, you need to have Burning Crusade installed as well.
Yes, you have to have WotLK to make a Death Knight, just like you need Burning Crusade to make a Blood Elf or a Draenei, and you have to have Burning Crusade to istall WotLK. plus you can get upto level 80 with WotLK.
