What is the best primary proffession for a Rogue in World of Warcraft?

D-Boy asked:

I just started an ally Rogue on Anetheron and hes lvl 16 but without proffesions. From past experience I have learned the lower level you start your proffesions the better. What proffesions would be good for a Rogue?

You could do lw and skinning but if you want something different do tailor and enchanting rogues need a lot of enchants and it great money towards the end game

If this is your first character on this server/faction, I recommend going dual-gatherer. Herbalism/Skinning is very effective. Auction everything you gather, and you’ll find you earn money very, very quickly. Beyond the gold-earning benefit, Herbalism will give you an instant-cast quick Heal-over-Time spell (Lifeblood) that has saved my character’s life countless times, and Skinning will increase your critical strike rating.

If this isn’t your first character on the server, and is being primarily funded from a higher-level character, I’d recommend Herbalism/Alchemy. Making your own potions and elixirs, and later on, getting increased effect from all potions and elixirs (from the passive Mixology ability), and later still, double-duration from Flasks, becomes invaluable. Unlike any other crafting profession, alchemy can make you money and give you direct, tangible benefits at all levels of play. (Not knocking other professions, of course, but I’ve found Alchemy to be more directly useful for much more of the game’s duration.)

Skinning is usually the best.

Gathering

Whether it’s skinning, herbalism, or mining, a rogue can make alot of money gathering materials that other players need to use. I find that you make tons of money gathering (not only do you not have to buy expensive recipes but you sell everything you collect).

Rogues have the advantage to stealth and sprint allowing them to gather materials more quickly than other classes. Rather than fight your way through monsters they can just stealth to the material location (except for skinning of coarse).

I have run several rogues, and find that Herbalism/Alchemy are best in the long run, but that Skinning/Leatherworking are best for the immediate cash. It all depends on how you want to run your charcter; if you have the patience to build him up, and aren’t looking for quick money, then H/A will allow you access to poisons and healing potions, which will be invaluable later on in your career.

Skinning for sure because you get extra Crit, now if you take leather working, towards the end its a pain to lvl and really not worth that much gold.. I would take up mining + skinning, reason for the is you get extra stamina from mining, and also make alot of gold, since Jewlcrafting, Engineering, and Black Smiting all need ores

herbalism/mining.

mining gives stamina, herbalism gives a heal over time.

if hes your first char on that sever then well, i suggest making him leather working and skinning if you want decent gear while leveling, but it wont make you a lot of money. If you are looking to make gold herbing and glyphs are your best choice.
