Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Isn’t it amazing how many people today struggle to see the truth in the above, even as science marvels at the violent nature of the known universe?
A recent Fox News story indicated that astronomers have been astonished of late by the violence of the universe.
The following are excerpts from that story:
The deeper astronomers gaze into the cosmos, the more they find it’s a bizarre and violent universe.
The research findings from this week’s annual meeting of U.S. astronomers range from blue orphaned baby stars to menacing “rogue” black holes that roam our galaxy, devouring any planets unlucky enough to be within their limited reach.
The violent nature of the cosmos should cause us to wonder how it is that we are in existence on this planet where we purportedly arose from the primordial ooze as a result of life suddenly coming into existence on our planet by some unknown means – a puzzle which evolution proponents around the world have never been able to solve but thoroughly expect us to believe, even though what they believe happened is no more provably accurate than the believer’s faith in the explanatory statement we find in Genesis 1:1.
Through faith and observation of the world around us, absorbing what science tells us is taking place beyond the planet we live on as well, we say with confidence that there is clear evidence of design present in our existence – a balance so finely-tuned that it could not and, in fact, did not occur outside of there being a God who made it all happen, exactly as recorded in the Word of God. Is that far-fetched on our part? Hardly, in my opinion and the opinion of many others too numerous to name who come from all walks of life and all levels of education.
The following is another excerpt from the aforementioned Fox News story. Referring to the roaming black holes that move about our galaxy swallowing everything in their path, the story reads:
The odds of one of these black holes swallowing up Earth or the sun or wreaking other havoc is somewhere around 1 in 10 quadrillion in any given year.
Even in the chaotic and turbulent universe we live in where comets, asteroids, black holes, supernovas and the like take place regularly, the planet earth has somehow, taking Darwinian theory as truth for a moment to prove a point, dodged a plethora of potential hazards long enough for all sorts of ever-so-small transitional changes to occur in all life on the planet over the course of hundreds upon hundreds of millions of years bringing us to where life’s ‘evolution’ stands today.
We somehow survived our chaotic universe’s violent nature but scientists tell us that earth hasn’t gone unscathed. Some of the threats to life’s existence, at the very least, have occurred in earth’s past wiping out practically everything from time to time but leaving enough life around for evolution to keep on working its magic, eventually bringing us to where we are today, the highly-evolved beings we are.
We’re so evolved that we can roughly know how the galaxy was formed and how the magic of Darwinian evolution led to us being here today, a byproduct of us, the ever-evolving life forms that we are, being lucky enough to reside on a planet that hasn’t been destroyed which is quite ‘convenient’ for lack of a better term.
“This is the glory of the universe,” J. Craig Wheeler, president of the astronomy association mentioned in the Fox News story is quoted as saying.
This, I would counter, is the glory of God whose hands made the universe!
Psalm 19:1-3:
The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.
Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.
There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.
Wouldn’t it be great if all mankind would listen to the celestial evangelists that appear before us night after night? Their ‘words’ are so revealing, as I believe the Fox News story bears witness to.
We survive but just barely!
Not only do we live in a violent universe, scientists readily admit, as we see in a LiveScience.com article, that if “Earth had been slightly smaller and less massive, life might never have gained a foothold.”
The same could be said if the earth wasn’t tilted just right to allow global distribution of the sun’s light. Likewise, if the earth had been closer to the sun or farther from it, life wouldn’t exist. The same could be said of our atmosphere’s composition. It, by sheer chance, is just right to sustain life! Earth is not too hot, not too cold, too dark or too light. It’s just right – by chance, of course.
According to the LiveScience.com article, “Earth has been on the edge of habitability from the beginning, and just eked by to allow life-friendly conditions.” Amazing, isn’t it?
When we look at all these issues reviewed in this commentary in total, shouldn’t it raise the odds of God’s Word being exactly what it claims to be in the eyes of the skeptical? For them to deny so, in my opinion, is irrational, especially when we add Bible prophecy into the mix which was history written in advance centuries ago, much of which has documentably come to pass with the rest of its fulfillment clearly coming into view in the world around us with startling accuracy!
Suffice to say this is not a time for anyone to be playing games where the future of one’s eternal soul is concerned. This is a time for wisdom, not wishful thinking on the part of those whose sinful nature entices them to continue down the pathway to destruction, luring them to hold onto some scientific theory as fact when it will be of absolutely no benefit when the reality that is found in God’s Word runs its course in full!

*drink*
A really, really long Pascal’s Wager. Nice.
This is supposed to be a question and answer board, ace, not a place for you to preach and prattle.
Reported.
try to shorten your questions. nobody is gonna read all of that.
yawn!!!!!!!!
I’m sorry, I must have missed your genuine question in all that rant.
I have seen the light! His noodly appendages created us all and the world around us! Praised be the Flying Spaghetti Monster, creator of the universe, and may His pasta never dry!
Ramen.
Isn’t evolution wonderful!!
Anyone who believes humans have a soul is fooling himself. There is NO god.
It takes more faith to assume that an old book correctly describes events with no science to back it up. It takes little faith to believe what science has shown us, and not to make up answers for what it hasn’t.
sorry you lost me after the first paragraph zzzzzzzzzzzzz
The Genesis 1:1, you are correct. The rest I didn’t read so I can’t tell you.
wow you got all that from one line in a book
what does this line mean “cause your a wizard ‘arry” tell me pleeeaaase
Yeah…the universe is really big. And they still have no evidence of a god anywhere in it.
Satan is as a roaring lion, seeking those he may devour. It is common that people are deceived …. yet they cannot blame Satan entirely. It is their own choice…and what they choose to believe is a portrait of what is really going on in their soul. The search for the truth is in us all…to seek out truth. That is the pursuit of God…not scientific alternate explanations. In my opinion, it is a way of not confessing that we are not able to save ourselves. It is a matter of pride. And pride stinks in the nostrils of God. Pride is the downfall of the human race, in my opinion. Everyone wants to be right. Yet in truth, only God is right. People choose not to accept that…and in so doing miss out with God.
Yes, we did come from Izanagi and Izanami! Or was that Brahma, Yahweh, or the Christian God.
There are plenty of things wrong in your “holy” book. It also advocates blind thinking and casts down knowledge and thought. So go be a blind sheep. I’ll continue to study reality to explain reality.
Well, first of all, this is more about cosmology and abiogenesis than evolution. You should at least know the names of the sciences you irrationally deny.
Nothing you mentioned from the article in any way points to the existence of a god. Quite the opposite. Why would a loving god create a universe so hostile to life? ON the other hand, the dearth of life in the solar system (and so far, anywhere else) actually indicates the much more likely scenario that life came about by a cosmic accident, against vast odds. Thank you for disproving the god theory.
Stopped reading as soon as I saw Fox News
Why don’t they call it the Republican God Channel and get it over with?
That was certainly a screed.
It was hard to read and understand the whole thing, harder still to find a question, but you seem to be suggesting that, since the universe has violent activity, we couldn’t exist without divine intervention. You cite the roving black holes as evidence to support this, and, unfortunately for you, also give the odds of our being swallowed up by one of these. i in 10 quadrillion. Do you know how big a number 10 quadrillion is? Let me write it out for you. 10,000,000,000,000,000. Those are long odds. That shows you that, no matter how violent the universe is, it is such a big place that the violence does not say that we should not exist without outside help. In fact, it is such a big place that odds are, since we’re here, there’s others out there, too. We just haven’t found them yet. And, finally, the big bang, abiogenesis and evolution are all a lot more provable than the Genesis account, as we have evidence for all of those things, but it would be, by definition, impossible to find evidence for creation.
you assume a tad too much for my liking with this…
You mention “the highly-evolved beings we are”, comparatively are we highly evolved? We have nothing to compare ourselves too, so I think it a bit narcissistic to assume we are highly evolved. In the eve of major fallout, be it caused by nuclear explosion or from beyond our planet, I doubt that humans will be the surviving creatures… so one has to ask – are we the most highly evolved beings on earth? do the instincts that we lack, but are found abundant in animals, leave us open for destruction?
While your answer was long, there are times when a long answer is necessary. The antagonists say stop preaching.
The realists say I will read whatever I have to to advance in knowledge of what is most important in life.
One way to shorten this would be to put links in here, but then some people just ignore those anyway or go to the article and take a quick look and if it doesn’t line up with their belief they blow it off.
As far as an answer that is realistic to your question – It takes a great deal more faith to believe there is no rhyme or reason for our existence as an evolutionist teaches than it does to believe there could be an intelligent creator who also gave us creative power on a much smaller scale.
Richard Dawkins is the most ardent disciple of Darwin that I am aware of in this generation. His “faith” in evolution has taken him to the height of fanaticism in attacking anyone who stands against him and especially Christians who believe in a Creator. He has a “religious fervor” that would make any Christian blush considering how far we are from being what we should be to a dying world.
Evolution is a deliberate deception from the jaws of Hell and is the direct spawn of a God-hating devil whose foremost desire is to destroy God’s greatest creation – MAN! He has succeeded in blinding the minds and hearts of many great intellectuals because the simplicity of the gospel appears to be a myth to them and doesn’t fit in with their self-appointed status as the intellectual elite of the earth. Because faith is simple – so simple that a child can understand it – those who stand or fall by their intellect and must dissect and analyze everything reject faith and therefore die without hope holding fast to the belief that there is nothing beyond this life.
It is a tragedy of the greatest proportions, and I speak from my heart as one who lived that life of being analytical about everything – where faith was very hard for me – BUT where God overcame my reluctance to humble myself and helped me see truth at last. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
